MEDIA ADVISORY: Media Advisory on Court Workers

Oak Ridges MPP Frank Klees will make public the conditions under which employees of the Attorney General at the Newmarket Court are forced to work hundreds of hours without timely payment for their work.

Many court support staff are working as much as 20 hours and more per week for which payment is being withheld for months.

The result is financial hardship for the many single parents who are forced to incur employment-related expenses such as child care and travel costs, with no off-setting income.

"These conditions are unconscionable and would be subject to prosecution if a private sector company were to treat its employees in this way," said Klees.
