We should honour Martin Luther King: MPP

(York Region) - The third Monday in January should be proclaimed Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Ontario, Oak Ridges MPP Frank Klees says.

Mr. Klees introduced a private member's bill Monday at Queen's Park to recognize the day.

An annual celebration of Dr. King's life "would serve as a fitting time to give consideration to the contributions of African-Canadians to Canada and their role in working to end racial discrimination and the role of our parliamentary heritage in protecting our rights and responsibilities", Mr. Klees said in the legislature.
